Scope
This standard specifies the general principles and requirements for the design, manufacture, and testing of new drilling and workover equipment, as well as main bearing replacement parts manufactured after the publication of this standard.
This standard applies to the following equipment:
a) Rotary tables;
b) Rotary table inserts;
c) Standard rotary tables designed for use in standard rotary table chuck seats with a cone angle of 1:3 (4 in/ft);
d) Non-standard rotary tables with a cone angle other than 1:3 (4 in/ft) used in manual chuckers specified in item i);
e) High-pressure mud and cement hoses;
f) Piston drilling pump parts;
g) Winch parts;
h) Manual chuckers using standard rotary tables specified in item c) cannot be used as tongs installed on large-diameter inserts and/or rotary tables;
i) Manual chuckers using non-standard rotary tables with a cone angle other than 1:3 (4 in/ft) cannot be used as tongs installed on large-diameter inserts and/or rotary tables;
j) Spring, pneumatic, or hydraulic chuckers with integral chucks cannot be used as tongs installed on large-diameter inserts and/or rotary tables;
k) Spring, pneumatic, or hydraulic chuckers with integral chucks cannot be used as tongs installed or partially installed in rotary tables;
l) Manual tongs;
m) Safety chucks not used as lifting devices;
n) Power tongs including rotating wrenches;
o) Blowout preventer (BOP) handling systems;
p) Pressure-reducing devices for high-pressure drilling fluid circulation systems;
q) Tail ropes for manual and power tongs.
