Scope

Scope: This document specifies the terms and definitions related to the production of Jianghan rice, the environmental requirements for production areas, field preparation, variety selection and seed treatment, cultivation techniques, field management, timely harvesting, and production records. This document applies to the production of rice used as raw material for Jianghan rice processing in 37 counties (cities and districts) within the Jianghan Plain region. Main technical contents: 4. Environmental requirements for production areas: The soil environment of the production areas shall meet the requirements of GB 15618, and the irrigation water shall meet the requirements of GB 5084. 5. Field preparation: The fields shall be selected in areas with flat terrain, convenient irrigation and drainage, and good ecological environment. The field cultivation shall be carried out in accordance with NY/T 2192. 6. Variety selection and seed treatment: Seeds shall be selected from excellent varieties that have passed national audition (including those audited in Hubei Province) or Hubei Province audition (including those recorded for introduction) and are adaptable to the climate and environmental conditions of the Jianghan Plain. The seed quality shall comply with the provisions of GB 4404.1. Before soaking the seeds, disinfect them with 25% dimethomorph emulsion 10 ml per 30 kg–40 kg of water for 6 hours, or with 40% trichloroisocyanuric acid 10 g per 3 kg–5 kg of water for 12 hours, then rinse them with clean water and soak them. The soaking time shall depend on the temperature, generally 1 day–3 days. After soaking, germinate the seeds at a temperature of 25 °C–35 °C. When using drones and mechanical sowing, germinate the seeds until 90% of them have broken the husk. 7.
