Scope

This standard specifies the terms and definitions, product identification, technical requirements, test methods, inspection rules and marking, packaging, transportation, and storage requirements for large-filament precursor yarns of polyacrylonitrile-based carbon fiber.
This standard applies to large-filament precursor yarns of polyacrylonitrile-based carbon fiber with a number of single filaments ranging from 24 K to 50 K. Large-filament precursor yarns of polyacrylonitrile-based carbon fiber with a number of single filaments exceeding 50 K may be used as a reference.
Note: 1 K equals 1,000 single filaments.
