Scope
This standard specifies the external detection methods for stress corrosion cracking (SCC) of buried steel pipelines, including data collection, analysis of SCC sensitive factors, prediction of SCC locations, excavation detection, evaluation and disposal, and record-keeping and reporting.
This standard applies to buried steel pipelines in onshore long-distance pipelines, gathering pipelines, and public pipelines. Other buried steel pipelines can refer to the relevant provisions of this standard for implementation.
This standard only applies to stress corrosion cracking caused by external environments in buried steel pipelines, and does not apply to stress corrosion cracking caused by transported media.
