Scope

This standard specifies the requirements and test methods for light curing machines used to irradiate and cure polymer-based dental restorative materials within the wavelength range of 385 nm to 515 nm. This standard applies to quartz tungsten halogen lamps and light-emitting diode (LED) lamps. Light curing machines can be powered by an internal power source (rechargeable batteries) or an external power source (mains power). This standard does not apply to laser or plasma arc equipment. This standard does not apply to light curing machines used in dental laboratories for indirect restorations, veneers, dentures, and other oral products. The relevant provisions of this standard take precedence over the requirements of GB 9706.1.
