Scope

This standard specifies the test method for the external stress corrosion cracking of austenitic stainless steel by insulation materials.
This standard applies to fiber-type insulation materials, including rock wool, slag wool, glass wool, and aluminum silicate wool, used for covering austenitic stainless steel, as well as their products. It also applies to other types of insulation materials used for this purpose, such as calcium silicate, cement, composite silicates, foam asbestos, foam plastics, and foam rubber.
