Scope

This standard specifies the performance requirements for reading and writing desk lamps (hereinafter referred to as "lamps") that use tungsten filament lamps, fluorescent lamps, or LEDs as light sources and have a power supply voltage of no more than 250 V. This standard applies to desk lamps used for reading and writing lighting in homes, classrooms, and similar settings, as well as desk lamps claimed to be "eye-protective". The tests in this standard are type tests, the definition of which is given in 3.3. Note: The requirements of this standard apply to the testing of samples submitted for type testing. Passing the type test of a sample does not guarantee that all products manufactured by the manufacturer are compliant. Product compliance is the responsibility of the manufacturer, and in addition to type testing, it may include routine testing and quality assurance.
