Scope
This standard specifies the procedure for determining whether there are perceptible sensory differences or similarities between two product samples. The standard method is a forced-choice procedure.
This standard applies to differences in a single or several sensory characteristics. This standard also applies when the difference characteristics are unknown (that is, it is not certain about the degree of difference or the range of differences between the samples, nor are there any signs of characteristic differences). This standard only applies when the products are quite similar.
