Scope

This standard specifies the general principles of heat fusion jointing procedures and quality control for polyethylene (PE) pipes and fittings used in gas and water supply and distribution systems, which are made from PE 80 and PE 100 polyethylene compounds.
The heat fusion jointing procedures specified in this standard are applicable to polyethylene (PE) pipes and fittings used in gas and water supply and distribution systems with a nominal outer diameter of 75 mm to 630 mm; the single low-pressure heat fusion jointing procedure is applicable to polyethylene (PE) pipes and fittings used in gas and water supply and distribution systems with a wall thickness of not more than 70 mm; and the dual low-pressure heat fusion jointing procedure is applicable to polyethylene (PE) pipes and fittings used in gas and water supply and distribution systems with a wall thickness of more than 22 mm and not more than 70 mm.
