Scope

This standard specifies the energy efficiency testing and evaluation methods for in-use industrial heat exchangers.
This standard applies to shell-and-tube heat exchangers, spiral-plate heat exchangers, and plate heat exchangers in use at industrial sites.
The term "heat exchanger" in this standard includes heat exchangers (without phase change), condensers (with phase change on the hot side and no phase change on the cold side), and evaporators (with phase change on the cold side and no phase change on the hot side).
For heat exchangers that fall under the jurisdiction of the "Regulations on Safety Supervision of Special Equipment", the testing should comply with the relevant requirements of the "Regulations".
