Basic Information
Scope
This standard specifies the minimum requirements for the design, calculation, testing, and installation of truck-mounted cranes on vehicles or fixed bases.
This standard applies to all new truck-mounted cranes produced one year after its publication. There is no requirement to modify existing truck-mounted cranes.
This standard does not apply to truck-mounted cranes installed on ship decks or floating structures, nor to articulated boom cranes specifically designed as integral parts of dedicated equipment (transfer machines).
The hazards covered by this standard are described in Chapter 4.
This standard does not include the hazards related to the transportation of people by truck-mounted cranes.
Note 1: Winches are included in dedicated standards.
Note 2: When truck-mounted cranes are used to transport people, dedicated national regulations shall be implemented.
