Scope

1.1 This standard specifies the requirements for the design (including rule-based design and analytical design, the same below), manufacture, assembly welding, inspection, and acceptance of steel spherical storage tanks (hereinafter referred to as "spherical tanks").
1.2 This standard applies to spherical tanks with a design pressure not exceeding 6.4 MPa and a design temperature range based on the orange-peel or mixed type allowable use temperature of steel, supported by pillars.
1.3 This standard does not apply to the following spherical tanks:
a) Spherical tanks in nuclear energy devices;
b) Spherical tanks subject to relative motion (such as those carried by vehicles or ships);
c) Spherical tanks with a nominal volume of less than 50 m3;
d) Spherical tanks with a double-layer structure.
