Basic Information
Scope
This part is used together with GB/T 180151—2007. This cable is specifically designed for horizontal cabling of D, E, and F-class channels defined in ISO/IEC 11801:2000 (see Table 1). This part applies to single-shielded (STP), fully shielded (FTP), and unshielded (UTP) twisted pair or four-wire cables with four or fewer pairs. It specifies the transmission characteristics of the cable at 20°C. For the performance of the cable at temperatures above 20°C, please refer to Appendix A. The term "Category 5e" cable used in this part refers to enhanced Category 5 cables, which are used in the same scope as Category 5 cables in ISO/IEC 11801. This enhanced cable is designated as Category 5e to distinguish it from Category 5 cables described in GB/T 180152, GB/T 180153, and GB/T 180154. Although both Category 5 and Category 5e cables have a 100 MHz specification and can be used in D-class channels, Category 5e cables have additional requirements compared to Category 5 cables, making them more suitable for systems that use four pairs for bidirectional simultaneous transmission.
