Scope

This standard specifies the technical requirements, test methods, inspection rules, and marking, packaging, transportation, and storage of lanthanum metal.
This standard applies to lanthanum metal obtained by molten salt electrolysis, which is mainly used as an important additive or alloying element in special steels, non-ferrous metal alloys, and hydrogen storage materials. It can also be used as a reducing agent for the preparation of other rare earth metals.
