These power tools (hereinafter referred to as "cutting and crimping power tools") can be driven by compressed air, hydraulic oil, or internal combustion engines, and are designed for use by a single operator with one or two hands, with or without suspension devices (such as balancing devices).
Note 1: At the time of publication of this document, there was no information available about the existence of cutting and crimping power tools driven by internal combustion engines. Once such power tools are confirmed to exist, this document will be revised to include them.
This document applies to the following products:
——Non-yoke-type crimpers;
——Cutters;
——Cutting tools;
——Cutting pliers;
——Crimping pliers.
Note 2: Examples of cutting and crimping power tools are provided in Appendix B.
This document does not apply to the special requirements and modifications of cutting and crimping power tools for installation on fixed devices, nor to dual-action hydraulic rescue tools used in firefighting and rescue operations.
This document covers all notable hazards, dangerous situations, or dangerous events associated with the use of cutting and crimping power tools under the intended use and foreseeable misuse conditions by the manufacturer, except for their use in potentially explosive environments.
Note 3: EN 13463-1 specifies the requirements for the use of non-electric equipment in potentially explosive environments.
