Scope
This standard specifies the safety requirements, quality requirements, inspection methods, inspection rules, marking, storage, and transportation for cross-linked high-density polyethylene high-integrity containers (referred to as "containers") used for packaging low- and medium-level radioactive solid waste. This standard applies to the safe management of low- and medium-level radioactive solid waste, including waste preparation, storage, transportation, and disposal. It does not apply to containers used for storing high-level radioactive waste or as packaging containers for Type B and Type C packages. This standard applies to the design, manufacture, procurement, and inspection of containers.
