Scope

This part of "Explosive Environments" stipulates the special requirements for the structure and evaluation of intrinsically safe electrical systems (protection type "i"). This part applies to intrinsically safe electrical systems intended for use in whole or in part in Class I, Class II, or Class III equipment locations. Note: This part is used for the design and evaluation of intrinsically safe electrical systems, and its personnel may be manufacturers, third-party agencies, expert consultants, or staff of end users. This part is a supplement to GB 3836.4-2010, and the requirements of GB 3836.4-2010 apply to electrical equipment in intrinsically safe electrical systems. The installation requirements for Class II or Class III intrinsically safe electrical systems designed in accordance with the requirements of this part are specified in GB/T 3836.15-2017.
