Scope

This standard specifies the operating environmental conditions, terms and definitions, rated values, design and structure, type tests, factory tests, and selection guidelines for high-voltage DC circuit breakers used in flexible DC systems.
This standard applies to mechanical high-voltage DC circuit breakers, power electronic high-voltage DC circuit breakers, and hybrid high-voltage DC circuit breakers installed indoors and outdoors for flexible DC systems with voltages of 6 kV and above.
This standard does not apply to specific types of DC circuit breakers that are specified in other product standards related to DC circuit breakers.
