Scope

This standard specifies the terms and definitions, classification, technical requirements, test methods, inspection rules, and marking and storage of construction winches (hereinafter referred to as winches). This standard applies to winches driven by electric motors used in construction and installation projects. This standard does not apply to winches used as components of machinery such as cranes, construction lifts, and foundation construction equipment.
