YY 9706.249-2023 Medical electrical equipment—Part 2-49:Particular requirements for the basic safety and essential performance of multifunction patient monitors
Basic Information
Scope
This part of GB 9706 specifies the general requirements for the basic safety and basic performance of ME devices and ME systems.
This part applies to medical electrical equipment and medical electrical systems (hereinafter referred to as ME devices and ME systems).
If a chapter or an article explicitly states that it only applies to ME devices or ME systems, the title and the text of the chapter or article will indicate this. If this is not the case, the relevant chapter or article applies to both ME devices and ME systems.
Except for 7.2.13 and 8.4.1, the hazards (sources) caused by the intended physiological effects of ME devices or ME systems within the scope of this part are not specifically required in this part.
Replacement:
This document specifies the basic safety and basic performance requirements for multi-parameter patient monitors (hereinafter referred to as ME devices or ME systems).
This document applies to multi-parameter patient monitors intended to be connected to a single patient and having two or more physiological monitoring units, which are intended to be used in professional medical institutions, as well as in emergency medical service environments or home care environments.
Note: In this document, pregnant women and their fetuses are considered as a single patient.
This document does not apply to the implantable parts of multi-parameter patient monitors.
This document does not specify the requirements for separate physiological monitoring units, such as electrocardiogram (ECG), invasive pressure, and pulse oximetry, which are specified from the perspective of standalone medical electrical equipment in relevant dedicated standards. When multi-parameter patient monitors are integrated into other medical electrical equipment or medical electrical systems, other relevant standards also apply.
Example: Multi-parameter patient monitors integrated into critical care ventilators also apply to
