Scope

This document specifies the safety requirements for the design and manufacture of self-propelled, suspended, semi-suspended, and tractor-drawn agricultural machinery, and describes the corresponding verification methods for these safety requirements. This document stipulates the types of safety operation information (including residual risk information) provided by manufacturers. This document provides information on major hazards, dangerous states, and dangerous events during normal operation and maintenance of agricultural machinery under intended use and foreseeable misuse by manufacturers (see Appendix A).
This document applies to the design, manufacture, and inspection and testing of self-propelled, suspended, semi-suspended, and tractor-drawn agricultural machinery.
This document does not apply to the following agricultural machinery:
—— Tractors for agricultural and forestry use;
—— Agricultural aircraft and hovercraft;
—— Lawn and gardening machinery;
—— Specific components or functions of machines (e.g., working tools and/or working processes);
—— Machines of specific performance levels.
This document does not apply to hazards related to regular maintenance, machine replacement, and repair by professional maintenance personnel, nor to environmental hazards, road safety (e.g., steering, braking), or power take-off (PTO) universal joint drive shafts; nor to protective devices for power transmission moving parts (except for the strength requirements of protective devices and barriers).
