Scope

This standard specifies the terms and definitions, classification, requirements, test methods, and nameplates, user manuals, packaging, transportation, and storage of vertical steam sterilizers. This standard applies to steam sterilizers with a sterilization chamber volume of not less than 30 L and an opening facing upward (hereinafter referred to as "sterilizers"). These sterilizers are mainly used for the sterilization of medical devices. This standard does not apply to portable steam sterilizers.
