Scope

This part of GB 3883 relates to tools driven by electric motors or electromagnets, including: - Hand-held power tools (Part 2); - Portable power tools (Part 3); - Gardening tools (Part 4). Hereinafter referred to as "tools". The rated voltage of AC single-phase or DC tools shall not exceed 250 V, and the rated voltage of AC three-phase tools shall not exceed 440 V. The maximum rated input power shall not exceed 3700 W. This part addresses the hazards caused by tools during normal operation and reasonably foreseeable use. Tools with electric heating elements are within the scope of this part. The requirements for these heating elements are specified in the relevant sections of GB 4706. For tools not isolated from the power grid and with basic insulation designed for a voltage lower than the tool's rated voltage, the requirements are specified in Appendix B. For tools driven by electromagnets or electric motors powered by rechargeable batteries, as well as battery packs for such tools, the requirements are specified in Appendix K. For such tools that can operate and/or charge directly from mains or non-isolated power sources, the requirements are specified in Appendix L. Hand-held power tools that can be mounted on a stand or workbench as fixed tools without any modification to the tool itself are within the scope of this part and are regulated by Part 3. This part does not apply to: - Tools used in explosive environments (dust, vapor, or gases); - Tools for food preparation and processing; - Medical tools; Note 1: The GB 9706 series, GB 10793, and GB 11243 cover a range of medical tools. - Tools used with cosmetics and pharmaceuticals; - Heating tools; Note 2: GB 4706.41 covers a range of heating tools. - Electrically driven household or similar appliances; Note 3: The GB 4706 series covers a range of electrically driven household and similar appliances. - Electrical equipment for industrial machine tools; Note 4: The GB 5226
