Scope

This standard specifies the hardness control requirements for preventing stress sulfide cracking (SSC) of welds in steel pipelines and equipment in a wet hydrogen sulfide acidic oil and gas environment.
This standard applies to welds of low-carbon steel and low-alloy steel pipelines and equipment that can be used in SSC zones 1, 2, and 3 of acidic environments as specified in SY/T 0599.
The equipment applicable to this standard includes pressure vessels, process pipelines, heat exchangers, atmospheric storage tanks, valve bodies, pump and compressor housings, etc.
