Scope

1.1 This part of GB/T 16508 specifies the general technical requirements for fixed shell boilers in terms of materials, design, manufacturing and inspection, safety accessories, combustion systems, installation, operation, energy conservation and environmental protection, etc.
1.2 This part applies to fixed pressure shell boilers that meet the following conditions and use water as the medium, with the evaporative heating surfaces mainly arranged in the shell or with a furnace chamber installed inside the shell:
a) Steam boilers with a design normal water volume greater than or equal to 30 L and a rated steam pressure greater than or equal to 0.1 MPa (gauge pressure, same below);
b) Hot water boilers with a rated water outlet pressure greater than or equal to 0.1 MPa or a rated power greater than or equal to 0.1 MW.
1.3 This part does not apply to the following equipment:
a) Mobile boilers (such as shipboard boilers and boilers used for railway locomotive traction);
b) Cooling devices used to meet the cooling needs of equipment and process flows;
c) Boilers for military use.
