Scope

This part of GB 3883 involves motors or electromagnets-driven tools:
——Hand-held power tools (Part 2);
——Portable power tools (Part 3);
——Garden tools (Part 4).
Hereinafter referred to as "tools".
The rated voltage of AC single-phase or DC tools shall not exceed 250V, and the rated voltage of AC three-phase tools shall not exceed 440V. The maximum rated input power shall not exceed 3700W.
This part involves the hazards caused by tools when people operate them normally and use them in a reasonably foreseeable manner.
Tools with electric heating elements are within the scope of this part. The requirements for these heating elements are specified in the relevant parts of GB 4706.
For motors that are not isolated from the power grid and whose basic insulation is not designed according to the rated voltage of the tool, the requirements are specified in Appendix B. For tools driven by motors or electromagnets powered by rechargeable batteries and battery packs used for these tools, the requirements are specified in Appendix K. For such tools that can be directly connected to mains or non-isolated power supplies for operation and/or charging, the requirements are specified in Appendix L.
Hand-held power tools that can be installed on a bracket or workbench as fixed tools without any modification to the tools themselves are within the scope of this part and are specified in Part 3.
This part does not apply to:
——Tools used in explosive environments (dust, steam or gas);
——Tools for preparing and processing food;
——Medical tools;
This part applies to electric drills and impact drills, diamond drilling machines, and mixers. This part also applies to electric drills that can be equipped with screwdriver attachments and used as screwdrivers.
