Scope

This part of GB 3883 relates to tools driven by electric motors or electromagnets, including: — Hand-held power tools (Part 2); — Portable power tools (Part 3); — Garden tools (Part 4). Hereinafter referred to as "tools". The rated voltage of AC single-phase or DC tools shall not exceed 250V, and the rated voltage of AC three-phase tools shall not exceed 440V. The maximum rated input power shall not exceed 3700W. This part addresses the hazards caused by tools during normal operation and reasonably foreseeable use. Tools with electric heating elements are within the scope of this part. The requirements for these heating elements are specified in the relevant sections of GB 4706. For tools that are not isolated from the power grid and whose basic insulation is not designed for the tool's rated voltage, the requirements are specified in Appendix B. For tools driven by electric motors or electromagnets powered by rechargeable batteries and battery packs used for these tools, the requirements are specified in Appendix K. For such tools that can operate and/or charge directly from mains or non-isolated power sources, the requirements are specified in Appendix L. Hand-held power tools that can be installed on a stand or workbench as fixed tools without any modification to the tool itself are within the scope of this part and are regulated by Part 3. This part does not apply to: — Tools used in explosive environments (dust, vapor, or gas); — Tools for food preparation and processing; — Medical tools; This document applies to hand-held angle grinders, disc polishers, and disc sanders with a rated capacity not exceeding 230 mm, including angular, vertical, and upright models, intended for working on materials other than magnesium. For angle grinders, the rated no-load speed shall not exceed the speed corresponding to the rated capacity of 80 m/s. This document also applies to concrete surface sanders with a rated capacity not exceeding 230 mm fo
