GB/T 3883.404-2025 Safety of motor-operated hand-held,transportable and garden tools—Part 404:Particular requirements for pedestrian controlled walk-behind lawnmowers
Basic Information
Scope
This part of GB 3883 concerns tools driven by motors or electromagnets, including:
- Hand-held power tools (Part 2);
- Portable power tools (Part 3);
- Gardening tools (Part 4).
Hereinafter referred to as "tools".
The rated voltage of AC single-phase or DC tools shall not exceed 250 V, and the rated voltage of AC three-phase tools shall not exceed 440 V. The maximum rated input power shall not exceed 3700 W.
This part addresses the hazards posed by tools during normal operation and reasonably foreseeable use by people.
Tools with electric heating elements fall within the scope of this part. The requirements for these heating elements are specified in the relevant sections of GB 4706.
For tools that are not isolated from the power grid and whose basic insulation is not designed for the rated voltage of the tool, the requirements are specified in Appendix B. For tools driven by motors or electromagnets powered by rechargeable batteries and battery packs used for these tools, the requirements are specified in Appendix K. For such tools that can be operated and/or charged directly from mains or non-isolated power sources, the requirements are specified in Appendix L.
Hand-held power tools that can be installed on a stand or workbench as fixed tools without any modification to the tools themselves fall within the scope of this part and are specified in Part 3.
This document applies to walk-behind:
- Roller mowers; and
- Rotary mowers.
These are equipped with:
- Metal cutting devices; and/or
- Rigid non-metal cutting devices; and/or
- Non-metal cutting devices with one or more cutting elements mounted on a roughly circular drive unit around an axis. These cutting elements
cut by centrifugal force, and the kinetic energy of each cutting element is greater than 10J.
Note 101: Tools equipped with non-metal cutting devices and whose kinetic energy of each cutting element does not exceed 10J are considered lawn trimming machines.
