YY 9706.257-2021 Medical electrical equipment—Part 2-57:Particular requirements for the basic safety and essential performance of non-laser light source equipment intended for therapeutic, diagnostic, monitoring and cosmetic/aesthetic use
Basic Information
Scope
This part of GB 9706 specifies the general requirements for the basic safety and basic performance of ME devices and ME systems.
This part applies to medical electrical equipment and medical electrical systems (hereinafter referred to as ME devices and ME systems).
If a chapter or an article explicitly states that it only applies to ME devices or ME systems, the title and the text of the chapter or article will indicate this. If this is not the case, the relevant chapter or article applies to both ME devices and ME systems.
Except for 7.2.13 and 8.4.1, the hazards (sources) caused by the intended physiological effects of ME devices or ME systems within the scope of this part are not specifically required in this part.
Replacement:
This part applies to the basic safety and basic performance of light source devices (LS devices) with a wavelength range of 200 nm to 3,000 nm, which are equipped with one or more non-laser light radiation sources and are intended to produce non-visual photobiological effects on humans or animals for treatment, diagnosis, monitoring, and plastic/medical cosmetology or animal applications.
This part does not apply to sunbeds, ophthalmic instruments, or infant phototherapy devices.
Note: The safety requirements of this part only describe the hazards to the eyes and skin; the hazards to internal tissues are not within the scope of this part.
LS devices may include one or more light radiation sources, which may or may not be equipped with a power supply, or may be integrated into a complex system that includes optical, electrical, or mechanical systems, or may include other radiation sources.
Note: Appendices AA~EE include general guidance purposes and many typical cases. However, the appendices should not be considered definitive or complete.
