This document specifies the safety requirements for instantaneous water heaters intended for household and similar use and designed to heat water to a temperature below the boiling point.
This document applies to instantaneous water heaters intended for household and similar use and designed to heat water to a temperature below the boiling point, with a rated voltage of not more than 250V for single-phase appliances and a rated voltage of not more than 480V for other appliances.
Note 101: Instantaneous water heaters equipped with exposed electric heating elements are within the scope of this document.
This document also applies to appliances that are not intended for general household use but may still pose a danger to the public, such as appliances intended for use in shops, light industry, and farms.
In practical terms, the common hazards associated with the appliances covered by this document are ones that everyone in residential areas and the surrounding environment may encounter. However, in general, this document does not consider the following situations.
