Scope
The chapter of GB/T 4706.1-2024 is replaced by the following content: This document specifies the safety requirements for electric sewing machines. This document applies to electric sewing machines for household and similar purposes, with a rated voltage of not more than 250 V for single-phase appliances and a rated voltage of not more than 480 V for other appliances. Overlock machines and electric components are also within the scope of this document. Appliances that are not intended for general household use but may still pose a risk to the public are also covered by this document. For example, sewing machines intended for operation by non-professionals in stores and light industrial environments. In practical terms, the common hazards of the various appliances covered by this document are ones that all people in residential and surrounding environments may encounter. However, generally speaking, this document does not consider: -- the following groups (including children): ● those with physical, sensory, or mental disabilities; or ● those who lack experience and knowledge, which may lead to unsafe use of the appliance without supervision or guidance. -- the situation of children playing with the appliance.
